Pest Inspections

Routine Pest Inspections

Termites, wood borers, fungal decay and mould are very common in North Queensland and unfortunately, in many cases, they go unnoticed until they have caused significant and costly damage to your property. In addition to causing significant property damage, they can also be a big threat to your health and well-being.

Because of the risk that pests present for both your property as well as your health and safety, it is advisable to have a pest inspection done on your property every two years. This will not only give you peace of mind but prevent costly problems in the future.

  •  Pest activity or live nests that are present
  •  Evidence of past pest activity
  •  Susceptibility to pest issues and infestation
  •  Recommended works to address or prevent pest activity.

Do you need a regular inspection report?

A pest inspection will highlight any problems with unwanted tenants in your walls, roof or damaging your stumps. Finding out before damage occurs can save you thousands of dollars you didn’t expect to have to spend. Our pest inspections have helped a large number of Townsville residents and commercial property owners promptly identify pest issues before they become infestations.

How can you reduce the likelihood of an infestation?

The arrival of warmer weather also brings out everyone’s least favourite free loader – spiders! Spiders become more active in the warmer months due to breeding season, they breed a lot faster than in colder months and for an added bonus their life cycle increases in these months as well.

The female spider will emerge from the hiding spots they settled into rent-free in and around your home to lay their eggs. Our eight-legged tenants are attracted to moisture, so they settle into damper areas, some prefer drier spaces such as upper corners of rooms and air vents.

There are a few ways to prevent a spider lodger from overstaying their welcome

– Remove webs from your home so they can’t nest

– Fill in any gaps they can crawl through

– Use oils and scented candles they hate e.g., citrus, peppermint, lavender, rose and tee tree – cats and dogs are useful to remove any spiders they see

– apply insecticide to at-risk areas

– maintain a clean house

How would you know if your home has termites eating away at the value of your home?

Given that termites infest 1 in every 5 Australian homes, it’s worth having a pre-purchase pest inspection carried out before you conclude negotiations. Termites cause serious damage to property costing potentially thousands of dollars in repairs and if you are selling your home, you may have to reduce the asking price to cover the cost of making repairs identified in a building report.
